Thank you so much for voting! This year we had a tie! Two non-profits will receive a donation from Elite Construction - Housing Matters Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter.
Volunteering in any way you to can supports your local community. It helps the non-profit thrive, and it feels good to know that each us are contributing to make our community more connected and vibrant. Giving is good for the soul.
Housing Matters Santa Cruz is Santa Cruz County’s largest nonprofit working exclusively to resolve homelessness in our county. They provide 9 different programs including shelter programs for temporary and emergency housing, support services, housing programs, employment programs and day programs. Our donation will be used to support Housing Matters’s goal of finding permanent, stable housing for all citizens in our county. I highly recommend checking out their website for information about their programs and how you can get involved.
The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter provides 24-hour animal rescue and is Santa Cruz County’s only full service, open-admission animal shelter. SCCAS has two locations where people can find and recover lost pets and adopt new animal companions. As you probably know, Santa Cruz loves their animals and this commitment is evident in the quality of care provided through the shelter. They have a dedicated staff and a very active army of volunteers and foster care families. The shelter rescues and provides temporary shelter, veterinary and humane care for approximately 5,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated, neglected and injured animals every year. If you love animals and are interested in volunteering in some capacity, we highly recommend fostering. We’ve been fostering for almost a decade now and it is very enjoyable and highly rewarding to help an animal find their forever home.
